Keep what the recipe card does not explain

A family recipe may say “some flour” or omit the oven temperature. When moving it online, talk to the person who knows it. Write down what the dough should look like, how quantities are measured and how they tell when the dish is ready.

Organise one memory at a time

You do not have to photograph the whole notebook at once. Pick one recipe your family returns to and preserve its familiar name and cooking notes.

  1. Take a clear photo of the chosen page or type it manually.
  2. Compare the restored text with the original and add missing details.
  3. Save the recipe and leave a comment after cooking it.

Pass a recipe on without sharing the entire book

What if the handwriting is hard to read?

Photograph it in good light and check the extracted text. You can fill in difficult passages manually.

Does another family receive my only copy?

No. It can copy a shared recipe into its own workspace while your original remains separate.
